What Are Parent Care Rooms?

Located within partner hospitals, Parent Care Rooms give families the opportunity to spend one or two nights caring for their infant in a private, home-like setting as they prepare for discharge.

These spaces allow parents to build confidence, ask questions, and learn the routines and care their baby may need—before heading home. These rooms are more than a place to stay—they are a place for firsts.

Support When You Need It Most

Bringing a baby home is meant to be a joyful moment—but for families with infants requiring additional care, it can also come with uncertainty, fear, and questions.

The Ronald McDonald House Parent Care Rooms provide a space for families to take that important next step—offering a safe, supportive environment where they can care for their newborn while still just steps away from medical guidance.

Who These Rooms Support

Every family’s journey is different, and these rooms are designed to meet families where they are. Each stay is thoughtfully considered based on the unique needs of the baby and family. Parent Care Rooms are prioritized based on the needs of each family and their infant.

  • Families with infants in the NICU
  • Mothers who have been discharged but whose baby remains hospitalized
  • Families traveling from a distance
  • Parents learning specialized care, feeding routines, or medical needs
  • Foster and adoptive families building early bonds

Where You’ll Find Them
